"Bulgarian Folk Dance at Watford Live Dance Day"

The Bulgarian Folk Dance Group “Martenichka” is a Bulgarian folk dancing group which started 3 years ago. We practice traditional Bulgarian folk dances, which date as far back as the ancient Thracians. Our group is made up of people of all ages and cultures; as well as Bulgarians we have friends from the UK at all of our classes. Every Sunday we are reaching to take a piece of ancient Bulgarian culture and learn its unique dances. The Bulgarian national dances known as “horo” are unique by their nature; they are the only ones in the world which use irregular rhythms such as 7/8, 9/8, 5/8, 9/16 etc. which is the secret of much of their beauty.
